This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Robert E. Stinson who was born November 29, 1921 and passed away on November 29, 2005. We will remember him forever. Robert E. Stinson sounds odd to me. I just remember him as Grandpa!!!

My grandfather was a great man who cared dearly for his family and his country. Sgt. Major Robert E. Stinson was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Normandy Invasion of WWII and a veteran of the Korean War. He was also an inductee into the Madison County Hall of Hero's. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Mary E. Stinson; son, David Stinson; and granddaughter, Tiffany Stinson. He is survived by his wife, Augusta Stinson; seven children, Barbara Moudy, Kathy Wallace, Robert E. "Skip" Stinson Jr., Greg Stinson, James Stinson, Jami Holt, and Denice Coggins; three step-children; 21 grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. He wore his uniform PROUD!!!

---JUST A COMMON SOLDIER--- (A Soldier Died Today) by A. Lawrence Vaincourt
He was getting old and paunchy and his hair was falling fast, And he sat around the Legion, telling stories of the past. Of a war that he had fought in and the deeds that he had done, In his exploits with his buddies; they were heroes, every one.
And tho' sometimes, to his neighbors, his tales became a joke, All his Legion buddies listened, for they knew whereof he spoke. But we'll hear his tales no longer for old Bob has passed away, And the world's a little poorer, for a soldier died today.
He will not be mourned by many, just his children and his wife, For he lived an ordinary and quite uneventful life. Held a job and raised a family, quietly going his own way, And the world won't note his passing, though a soldier died today.
When politicians leave this earth, their bodies lie in state, While thousands note their passing and proclaim that they were great. Papers tell their whole life stories, from the time that they were young, But the passing of a soldier goes unnoticed and unsung.
Is the greatest contribution to the welfare of our land A guy who breaks his promises and cons his fellow man? Or the ordinary fellow who, in times of war and strife, Goes off to serve his Country and offers up his life?
A politician's stipend and the style in which he lives Are sometimes disproportionate to the service that he gives. While the ordinary soldier, who offered up his all, Is paid off with a medal and perhaps, a pension small.
It's so easy to forget them for it was so long ago, That the old Bobs of our Country went to battle, but we know It was not the politicians, with their compromise and ploys, Who won for us the freedom that our Country now enjoys.
Should you find yourself in danger, with your enemies at hand, Would you want a politician with his ever-shifting stand? Or would you prefer a soldier, who has sworn to defend His home, his kin and Country and would fight until the end?
He was just a common soldier and his ranks are growing thin, But his presence should remind us we may need his like again. For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part Is to clean up all the troubles that the politicians start.
If we cannot do him honor while he's here to hear the praise, Then at least let's give him homage at the ending of his days. Perhaps just a simple headline in a paper that would say, Our Country is in mourning, for a soldier died today.

To everyone: Grandpa was a military man who loved his Country! I ask you to visit the sit of PFC Daniel Allman. He is a soldier who lost his life while serving our Country in Baghdad (Iraq). He was a 20 year old, and father, who gave his life for our Country. We should show our respect for Danny, his family and friends. I personally knew "Little Danny" and loved him as a brother. He was a Soldier, HOORRAAAHH!!

"Never Be Forgotten" I’ll always see your face The corner of your smile And all the little things that no one will ever know Like it was yesterday, won’t ever fade away Goodbye is just a word that I will never say
You will never be forgotten A million days could pass us by But what is time but just a dream Oh I still feel you here with me You’re more than a memory Oh you will never be forgotten
I can‘t hold your hand Or look into your eyes And when I talk to you It just echoes in my mind But if hearts are made of dust And if we fell from the stars I look up tonight and know just where you are
You will never be forgotten A million days could pass us by But what is time but just a dream Oh I still feel you here with me You’re more than a memory Oh you will never be forgotten
And the world just keeps on going It has no way of knowing That you’re gone
You will never be forgotten A million days could pass us by But what is time but just a dream Oh I still feel you here with me You’re more than a memory Oh you will never be forgotten

I come from a very strong military family and I thank every soldier in this Country! Wearing that uniform is the highest honor I feel a person can have. Soldiers put their lives on the line for us and we should thank them!!! I thank you all!

ON THE WINGS OF A DOVE
On the wings of a snow-white dove He sends His pure sweet love A sign from above On the wings of a dove
When troubles surround us, When evils come The body grows weak, The spirit grows numb When these things beset us, He doesn't forget us He sends down His love On the wings of a dove
On the wings of a snow-white dove He sends His pure sweet love A sign from above On the wings of a dove
When Jesus went down To the river that day He was baptized In the usual way And when it was done, God blessed his son He sent him his love On the wings of a dove
On the wings of a snow-white dove He sends His pure sweet love A sign from above On the wings of a dove
When Noah had drifted On the flood many days He searched for land In various ways Troubles, he had some, But wasn't forgotten He sent him His love On the wings of a dove
On the wings of a snow-white dove He sends His pure sweet love A sign from above On the wings of a dove

A Letter From Heaven To my dearest family, some things i'd like to say.But first of all, to let you know, That I arrived okay. I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy just because i'm out of sight.Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.God picked me up and hugged me and said, "I welcome you." "It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on. I need you here so badly, you are part of my plan. There's so much we can do, to help our mortal man." God made a list of things, that he wished for me to do.And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.God and I are closest to you... in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that i could tell you all that god has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.I'm closer to you now, than i ever was before. There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; But together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and i'd like it for you too; That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you. If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and pain; Then you can say to god at night..."my day was not in vain." And now I am conteted ...that my life was worthwhile.Knowing as I passsed along the way I mad somebody smile." So if you meet somebody who is sad & low;Just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go. When your walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind. And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.Remember you're not going ......you're coming with me.
When tomorrow starts without me and I'm not here to see... If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me,
I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today... While thinking of the many things we didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me, as much as I love you... And each time you think of me, I know you'll miss me, too.
But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand... That Jesus came and called my name and took me by the hand,
And said my place was ready in heaven far above... And that I'd have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart... For every time you think of me, I'm right here in your heart.

His legacy |

What it means to family Legacy: Something that has come from an ancestor or predecessor left to a person by will. --- My grandfather left to his family his opinions, love, strength, and his pride!!! He never had a bad thing to say about another person and cared for everyone. If you ever needed anyone or anything he was always there whether that person repaid him or not. He would give the shirt off his back to make another person happy. He love his country and he showed it.
Hero: A person admired for achievements and qualities- One that shows great courage- The chief male figure in a literary work or in an event or period. ---My grandfather was admired by his family and courtry!!! He showed great courage by serving in the US Army and he was the person who provided for his family. He brought us all together for Christmas and other holidays.
May he never be forgotten! He was a great man and soldier. |
